Jesse Marks is Group Vice President, Finance and Administration for Schmidt Futures. In this role, Jesse has responsibility for oversight of Schmidt Futures’ finance functions, including grantmaking and other investing methods and due diligence. Jesse is also responsible for all other operating functions at Schmidt Futures.
Before joining Schmidt Futures, Jesse worked as a project team leader in the strategy and analytics arm of the Ethiopian Agricultural Transformation Agency, where he advised Ethiopian government leaders on agricultural technology regulation, food security, and export policy. In this capacity, Jesse helped to build the Ethiopian government’s internal strategic advisory capacity by training and managing teams of high-performing civil servants. Prior to his work in Ethiopia, Jesse served as an internal strategy consultant with the adidas Group, where he helped the North America executive team to formulate long-term strategies, improve operational performance, and negotiate with key retailers. Before that, Jesse worked as a management consultant with McKinsey & Company, advising clients in government and business on a range of strategic questions.
Jesse holds a B.A. in Economics from Yale College and a J.D. from Yale Law School.
